Minister Aryeh Deri toured the Netiv Haavot neighborhood of the Judean Jewish community of Elazar on Tuesday, where 15 homes are to be demolished in March under a Supreme Court order over Arab land claims.
Setting the cornerstone for the new neighborhood where the evictees will move, Deri said, "We hope that the court will accept the [state's] request for a delay [in implementation of the order]. We are before the holidays of Purim and Passover. There is no reason [for the Netiv Haavot residents] to move to hotels and hostels. The court must accept this humanitarian request so that they will not spend the holidays [living] out of suitcases."
