Education Minister Naftali Bennett has announced that the Israel Prize for Economic Research and Statistics has gone to Professor Sergiu Hart, founder of the Center for Rationality at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The awards committee cited Prof. Hart as "one of the leading economists in Israel and abroad". Noting his efforts in the field of game theory and its implications in various economic fields, the committee wrote, "Among other things, he has an important contribution to understanding the convergence to market equilibrium, the value of a player in the game, how cartels are created in the markets and the development of objective risk indices."
