The Zionist Union party has put up a billboard on Tel Aviv's Ayalon Highway with a quote by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from 2008, when police recommended corruption charges against then prime minster Ehud Olmert. The quote reads, ""A prime minister who is up to his neck in investigations does not have a public and moral mandate to determine matters of destiny. The proper thing to do for this government is to go home."
Zionist Union Chairman Avi Gabbay said: "Netanyahu cannot escape responsibility and hide from shame. The police recommendations are serious and Netanyahu has lost the mandate to lead Israel." Gabbay also said, "Netanyahu can no longer serve as prime minister and must resign. It is time to put an end to the culture of governmental corruption of Netanyahu and his partners."
