More than 600 people took part yesterday in the Be'erot BaNegev conference, held at the religious Kibbutz Alumim. The conference was held at the initiative of the directors of the Be'erot Benegev Museum, which is presenting Be'erot Yitzhak on the eve of the 1948 battles and the settlement enterprise of the religious kibbutz movement in the Gaza vicinity.

As a highlight of the event, members of Kibbutz Be'erot Yitzhak as it is today started on a run from the kibbutz water tower that survived the attacks in the War of Independence near Gaza. They are scheduled to arrive tonight at the kibbutz's current location, near Ben-Gurion Airport, as part of a festive ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the battles and their fallen.
