A Knesset debate on Wednesday regarding Israel's proper response to a bill recently passed by the Polish legislature banning the phrase “Polish death camps” and barring publication or public discussion of Polish complicity in the Holocaust.
MK Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) said that Israel should take a strong response to the legislation: "Nobody will tell us what we are saying at Auschwitz, and I want to see someone in the Polish government dare to examine the contents that are being taughtthere. The Israeli government must take clear action, such as the return of the ambassador. Not for us but for the Poles who knew that this thing was not going on our agenda. "
MK Ayelet Nahmias Verbin added that "We are conducting a dialogue of the deaf. It is impossible to stand by Israel and be anti-Semitic, and it is impossible to love Jews and not stand by Israel, it does not go together".
