State Comptroller Yosef Shapira has fined the Jewish Home party 180,000 shekels, claiming the faction stopped paying half a million shekels in debts over many years, so that these debts became forced donations, according to his office's just-released report on the financing of political parties.
The party said it would study the report and carry out its recommendations, noting that for several years the party has been in the process of stabilizing economically, in view of the debts that were created for many years before 2013. It said, "The Comptroller's Office also understands that we have come a long way and we continue to work energetically on various issues." The Raam and Taal factions of the Joint List of predominantly Arab parties conducted their accounting system in accordance with the office's directives, according to the report.
