Worshipers from the Jewish community in the city of Volos, between Athens and Thessaloniki, who arrived this week to pray in the city synagogue, were shocked to see graffiti sprayed on the entrance to the synagogue.
The local police were called to the scene and launched a quick investigation.
After the 2008-2009 Operation Cast Lead counterterror campaign in Gaza, there were anti-Semitic incidents in Greece, including in Volos. Graffiti was sprayed on the walls of the synagogue, and telephone threats were made to the community leaders.
