The Knesset on Monday night approved the first reading of a law that would permit the Council for Higher Education to operate in Judea and Samaria.
24 Knesset members voted in favor of the bill, which was proposed by MKs Shuli Mualem-Refaeli (the Jewish Home) and Yaakov Margi (Shas), and 19 Knesset members voted against. The bill will be passed on to the Education, Culture and Sport Committee for preparation for its second and third readings.
