Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich of Poland, a member of the Standing Committee of the Conference of European Rabbis, has used the words, "bad", "miserable" and "unclear" to describe new legislation in Poland provides a three-year prison sentence on a conviction for saying anything that imposes responsibility on Poland for Nazi crimes.

Conceding that the law has not yet been published, Rabbi Shudrich, who is currently in the United States, said that he will discuss the matter with Poland's president and heads of the parliament. He joined Conference President, Rabbi Pinhas Goldschmidt, in calling for a "justice and truth" committee to examine the involvement of the Polish people in the Holocaust.
