Ashdod Mayor Yehiel Lasri vowed to keep ticketing businesses that remained open on Shabbat, despite major blowback from Ashdod residents. In a Facebook post, Lasri explained his rationale for stepping up enforcement of Shabbat laws, despite the move recently receiving opposition from Ashdod. "I am determined to reach the right solution for the future of Ashdod, and I call on all those who want to collect Knesset seats at the expense of Ashdod residents to look elsewhere," wrote Lasri.
