Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid called on the members of the Balad faction to suspend themselves from the Knesset after police recommended that they be brought to trial.

Lapid said that "It is impossible that publicly elected officials should sit in the Knesset when they will soon be tried for corruption, fraud and breach of trust.

"The Knesset is not a refuge for suspected criminals," Lapid added, stating that "even if there is no legal procedure, it should be a bipartisan norm. The Knesset cannot be tainted with corruption."
