Finance Committee chairman Moshe Gafni summoned the German ambassador to explain the difference between those Holocaust survivors receiving reparations from Germany and those receiving a higher sum from the state of Israel.
Gafni said that he wants those who receive from Germany to get the same sums and the same benefits as other Holocaust survivors. The committee is also preparing a law to require the government to add to the reparations and equal the sum reached by other Holocaust survivors.
Gafni explained that either Germany would raise the reparations or Israel would legislate to add to the reparations.
