Residents of El Matan in Samaria noticed work being done to pave a road from the village of Tilat to the internal road of the community. The new road passes within the community and allows access to the community without a security check.
Horrified residents including Ruth Shapira, the mother of Ayala Shapira who was seriously injured by a petrol bomb three years ago at the site, petitioned Shomron regional head Yossi Dagan to stop the illegal work endangering residents and confiscating state land.
After the regional commander toured the area as well as Civil Administration officials, the commander ordered the immediate ceasing of the work and added roadblocks for pedestrian access as previously agreed.
