The Water Authority authorized the establishment of a desalination plant in the Western Galilee which will produce 100-200 million cubic meters per year of desalinated water.
Due to the recent dry winters there is a lack of 2.5 billion cubic meters of water which is affected the northern region more as it does not have desalination plants at present.
