Germany is pushing its European allies to agree to new sanctions against Iran, in an effort to retain the "Iran deal," Der Spiegel reported Saturday.
The magazine quoted Brussels diplomats as saying Germany, Britain, and France as pushing for new sanctions to show the US that Europe is taking US President Donald Trump's threat to quit the deal seriously.
However, both a German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman and another government spokesman declined to comment.
