At a Hod Hasharon meeting with the participation of Zionist Union leader Avi Gabbay and local leaders, it was announced that in accordance with the mayor's wishes a new by-law would be passed permitting commerce on Shabbat.
The status quo within Hod Hasharon has for years allowed for the opening of coffee houses and restaurants on Shabbat without any disturbance to the religious public.
