In an integrated activity of the police, the Nature and Parks Authority, the Green Police, the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Plant and Animal Supervision Department of the Agriculture Ministry, three Arab residents of the eastern Galilee village of Maghar have been arrested on suspicion of poaching.

During searches in the village, there was suspicion of illegal hunting of protected animals. Twenty-three birds of the goldfinch, other finch and partridge species were seized, along with 14 foot traps, 4 trapping nets, remains of porcupine and frozen poultry, hunting equipment and 3 m-16 cartridges. One of the suspects is being investigated for illegal weapons possession.
