Former minister Moshe Yaalon has eulogized Aharon Appelfeld, who died Wednesday evening at the age of 85, as "an acclaimed writer whose life story is intertwined with the history of the Jewish people."
Writing on Twitter, Yaalon added, "Appelfeld, an Israel Prize laureate for literature, is a symbol of survival, rebirth and heroism, and his death is a loss for the people of Israel and for the world of culture and literature. His memory will not be erased and will remain for us as a living testimony in his special books, May his memory be blessed!"
