By a vote of eight to six, the Knesset Internal Affairs Committee has cleared the Supermarkets Law for a second and third reading. The vote in the Knesset plenum is expected later in the day.
The Law gives the interior minister the final say in the opening of businesses on the Jewish Sabbath.
