A plea bargain was filed with the Jerusalem District Court on Tuesday, under which the former CEO of the Behadrei Haredim website, Guy Cohen, will confess to the offense of extortion by threats and will be sentenced to a prison sentence of between eight and six months.
In 2012, senior members of the haredi-religious news website were arrested on suspicion of collecting money for advertising packages of public figures and businessmen in return for removing negative content from the site. In 2015, an indictment was filed against for extortion by threats. An amended indictment was filed today, from which some of the cases were deleted and the charges reduced. An additional defendant, a deputy CEO of the site, whose name is banned from publication, will confess to the crime of aiding and abetting, and will be sent to receive a probation report.
