Some 130 children with cancer from the Zichron Menachem organization, who had been stuck for several hours at the airport in Eilat, took off on two planes belonging to the Israir company on Thursday evening.
The airline said, "Due to a malfunction in the plane's tire during the flight to Eilat, it was decided for safety reasons that Flight 046 from Eilat to Tel Aviv will not take off. After it was discovered that it would take a long time to repair the tire, the company brought an empty plane from the Sde Dov Airport to take the passengers.”
“At the same time Israir has leased a plane from Arkia in order to bring the remaining passengers to central Israel in the coming hours. Food, beverages and ice cream were brought to the passengers at the airport in Eilat. Israir apologizes for the problem, but the safety of the flight and passengers is at the top of its agenda,” it added.
