Elbit Systems' large-scale autonomous vessel, the Seagull, recently participated in a joint exercise conducted by the British Royal Navy and the Israeli Navy in Haifa Bay.
During the exercise, the unmanned vessel carried out a naval mine action mission, in which it scanned and mapped the shipping route for the HMS Ocean helicopter carrier. Following the identification of a mock mine, he warned the helicopter carrier that it had to avoid the marked area and thus secure its route. The autonomous craft was controlled remotely from a shore station. As part of the exercise, the Seagull also took part in tactical maneuvers, sailing in a structure alongside the carrier and other naval vessels.
