Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki is threatening to address the United Nations General Assembly if the United States ambassador uses her veto on a Security Council resolution rejecting US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The UN Secretary-General is scheduled to submit a report to the council in accordance with Resolution 2334 from last year detailing Israeli activities in the "Occupied Palestinian Territories" that are contrary to UN resolutions. Maliki said that the council should adopt the report in the framework of the vote on the draft resolution on Jerusalem, and thus send a message that the United States has isolated itself against an international consensus that opposes its policy and demands the cancelling of the recognition of Jerusalem.
