Police in the western African nation of Gabon arrested dozens of people on Sunday over a Saturday knife attack in the popular market in Libreville, in which two Danish employees of the National Geographic Channel were wounded, one of them seriously, according to Agence France Presse.
Most of the detainees are traders and sellers in the market. Defense Minister Etienne Massard reported on Saturday that a 53-year-old Nigerian suspect who has lived in Gabon for 19 years said in his first statements that he “acted in retaliation for US attacks against Muslims and America’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.”
