The Satmar rebbe rejected the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital by US president Donald Trump, stating that "Jerusalem the Holy City will not be the capital of a Zionist state which uproots religion even if the president of the US declares this, just as in 1948 haredi Jews did not recognize President Truman's statement that the land of Israel is the state of the Jews."
