Transportation and Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz has responded to remarks by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, saying that "we do not accept orders and threats from the president of Turkey. Israel is a sovereign state and Jerusalem is its capital."
Katz added, "There is no more just and proper course than to recognize Jerusalem, the capital of the Jewish people for 3,000 years as the capital of the State of Israel. The days of the sultan and the Ottoman Empire are over."
