Hearings are scheduled for today at the Jerusalem Magistrates Court for detainees from protests against the court-ordered demolition of homes in the Netiv Haavot neighborhood of the Judean Jewish community of Elazar due to an Arab property claim.
Eight of the detainees, some of whom were minors, were arrested Wednesday afternoon in a demonstration near Kiryat Arba. A detainee, who was arrested yesterday evening near the String Bridge at the entrance to Jerusalem, said he was severely beaten by arresting officers. Two youths who were detained in the evening near the Geha interchange were released shortly thereafter with no case opened.
