Soon: Consumer boycott of Eda Haharedit?

Gadi Dimri, a member of the Forum against Incitement which launched a campaign against the attack on haredi soldiers by extremists, has told Arutz Sheva, "This coming Tuesday we are going to demonstrate in front of the Osem factory in Shoham, demanding that they stop using the kashrut of the Eda Haharedit, and we intend to open a website with a list of products that are not under the supervision of the Badatz of the Eda Haharedit."

Dimri explained that an economic blow may, perhaps, restrain them. "The Eda Haharedit and the Peleg Yerushalmi (Jerusalem faction) terrify the entire haredi sector. As is known, the Badatz Eda Haharedit [kashrut certification body -ed] is subordinate to the Eda Haharedit - so there is no reason why we should fund them." He rejected the Badatz Eda Haharedit claim that it is an independent body that is not connected to other activities of the community, and that the funds collected from the food companies are used only to maintain and develop the kashrut system, saying, "They are subordinate to the leaders of the Eda Haharedit and they cannot disconnect."
