A new ruling by Rabbi Zalman Nehemia Goldberg, a prominent rabbinical authority, would require hundreds of thousands of Israelis who married before the introduction of the new shekel to write a new ketubah (marriage document).
Rabbi Goldberg ruled on the matter in reply to a query by Rabbi Moshe Harari, author of Mikraei Kodesh volumes on the festivals and even showed him a new marriage document he had prepared for himself for the same reason.
It should be noted that many other prominent authorities such as Rabbi Moshe Feinstein and Rabbi Dov Lior do not require a new ketubah if the original one was written in liras.
