The Supreme Court rejected a petition by Jordan Valley Arab residents demanding to be allowed to cultivate their lands near the community of Hamra, which are presently being used by Jews to grow dates.

The court attempted to reach a compromise which would grant compensation to the claimants for the usage of their lands. However the claimants left the negotiations and the court then determined that since the area is considered a closed military zone since 1967 so they have no possibility of obtaining rights to cultivate the land.
