German police have arrested six Syrians between the ages of 20 and 28, who sought asylum in 2014 and 2015 on suspicion of planning to launch a "weapons and explosives" attack on a holiday market on behalf of the Islamic State terror movement.
The suspects were arrested during raids involving 500 officers in the cities of of Essen. Hannover, Kassel and Leipzig.
