The Settlement Parents Forum responded Monday night to word of a secondary-school strike on Tuesday by expressing its regret "that the [Irgun hamorim] teachers' organization was forced to strike and hurt our children after the negotiations had dragged on for many months and got grounded instead of the Ministries of Finance and Education understanding the importance of the status of teaching and teachers, and that they will work for a better and healthier education system."

A forum statement said, "We call on the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Education to sit with the teachers' organization to find and formulate ways and means to raise the status and wages of educators in Israel, all for the future of our children and for our future."
