Chairman Menachem Eliezer Mozes of the haredi-religious United Torah Judaism Knesset faction demanded on Monday that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu amend civil laws regarding work on the Jewish Sabbath, following last week's crisis, which was averted when it was decided that all Israel Railways infrastructure and repair work done this past Saturday would be done by non-Jews.
Addressing the Knesset, MK Mozes noted that similar work is done in countries where there is no Sabbath without disrupting traffic and even in Israel, the same could be said about work on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway (Route 1) and Highway 38, which connects Route 1 to Beit Shemesh.
