Member of Knesset Oren Hazan (Likud) has responded to President Reuven Rivlin's decision to reject Elor Azariya's pardon request by saying, "Rivlin, you lost the legitimacy to continue serving as President of the State! It is your duty to maintain unity, and your only authority is to grant pardon - but in the case of Azariya, you failed in your position."
Hazan added, "You missed a classic opportunity to unite the people and instead you chose to eat donuts and [be in] pictures for your private archive. Ruby, you made a mistake! Turn in your keys and go home!" Maariv quoted Hazan as saying he would submit an amendment to Israel's Basic Law on Monday to get rid of the president's exclusivity in granting pardons.
