The Ministerial Legislative Committee will discuss a new proposal Sunday to extend prison sentences for those who harass soldiers to up to 10 years.
The proposal initiated by Yesh Atid MK Yoel Razvozovm states that attacks on soldiers will carry a 7-year sentence but aggravated assault intended to harm a soldier in performing his duty or using any type of weapon or when carried out by more than two people will carry a ten-year sentence.
Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid said that the proposal is designed to protect haredi soldiers who suffer harassment during their service and added that he expects all parties to vote for the proposal.
