In a rare interview with an Arab newspaper, the London-based Saudi newspaper Elafh, Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot stated that "Iran is the biggest threat to the region," and explained that Iran has three main goals: Building nuclear weapons, which has been frozen in the meantime but is still a strategic goal, attaining regional influence and activating local militias and changing the rules of the game in the region by transferring knowledge and weaponry to militias.
Aizenkot stressed that Israel is demanding that Hezbollah leave Syria and that Iran and its militias should also leave the country as they represent a strategic threat to Israel.
