The European Union has announced a ban on arms sales to Venezuela with the aim of putting pressure on President Nicolas Maduro to take back recent anti-democratic moves.
The EU is also promoting a system that will help freeze the assets of unnamed senior Venezuelan officials and restrict their travel. Before the vote, Maduro warned against the sanctions.
