The Justice Ministry has blocked an initiative of Public Security minister Gilad Erdan to exclude security prisoners from a Supreme Court ruling stating a minimum space for prisoners according to a Haaretz report.

The landmark ruling ordered the authorities to allow prisoners three square meters by March 2018 and to increase it to 4.5 meters per prisoner by the end of 2018. Erdan tried to promote legislation to exclude security prisoners from the ruling but Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit nixed the initiative.
