The Knesset has approved the first reading of an amendment to the Knesset Law, according to which the Knesset House Committee will be able to increase the number of deputy Knesset speakers from seven to nine, with a majority of three-quarters of its members.

House Committee Chairman Yoav Kish said that the addition of the two deputies would be divided between the coalition and the opposition, and was accepted by all parts of the house.
