Justice Esther Hayut was sworn in Thursday as the 12th President of the Supreme Court. At the swearing-in ceremony, held at the president's residence, President Reuven Rivlin said the controversial seniority system for selecting the chief justice "has also brought a worthy judge this time."
President Rivlin told outgoing Chief Justice Miriam Naor, that despite criticism directed toward her, "You were practical and determined, and your loyalty was only to the law book."
