MK Eyal Ben-Reuven (Zionist Union), a member of the Knesset State Control Committee responded to a proposal by Betzalel Smotrich to weaken the State Comptroller.
"Smotrich's proposal to harm the State Comptroller is another level in the extreme right's struggle against democracy and its protectors. As a member of the State Control Committee I will do everything to protect the Comptroller who does his work faithfully. His work is vital for proper government procedures and for the organizations subordinate to it."
