The Kurds in Northern Iraq are disappointed that President Trump has abandoned them and are calling for help from other sources, including Israel.
The Kurds held a referendum in which 93% supported independence and since then they have been under attack from Iraq and Iran in attempts to conquer their territories.
Israeli Middle East expert Dr. Eddy Cohen says that if the Kurds are dislodged from their positions by Iran it could endanger Israel and therefore Israel has a strategic interest in helping the Kurds.
