The Allocations Committee in the Jerusalem Municipality has approved the transfer of two state religious schools to haredim, according to a report by Kipah. The decision was passed by 8 to 6, with the support of national religious representative Yael Entebbe and two other religious representatives, Moshe Leon and Meir Turgeman, who were not present.
Deputy Mayor Ofer Berkowitz who opposed the transfer of the schools, was furious after the vote, stating that "those who claim to represent the national religious have helped to abandon them today. We could with one vote have rejected this wretched decision but for personal political reasons part of the representatives of the national religious cooperated with the mayor and turned their voters into second-class citizens."
