Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan(Jewish Home) said that "General Rehavam(Gandhi) Zeevi was murdered merely because he was a minister in the State of Israel. Our rabbis state that whoever was murdered because he was a Jew is called a holy martyr.
"Gandhi for many years upheld Israel's security and was one of the founders of the communities in the Jordan Valley. His legacy will continue to be part of the state of Israel's legacy, despite continued attempts to erase it."
