The police are investigating criminal suspicions against Member of Knesset David Bitan of problematic ties with businessmen, according to a Tuesday report by Haaretz.

Bitan's name was also linked to an investigation against senior officials in the Rishon Lezion municipality, where he served as the deputy mayor before being elected to the Knesset, in light of the fact that by virtue of his position, he held the engineering portfolio in the city and headed the local planning and building committee. It should be noted that a criminal investigation was opened against Bitan seven years ago following which he left the planning committee, but the State Attorney's Office closed the file. MK Bitan did not respond to the Haaretz report.
