Sources close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu have responded to reports of his intention to lower the threshold for a party's entrance to the Knesset to 2% by saying "This is a theoretical idea that has not received any practical expression."
They continued, "Obviously, there will be no change in the percentage of blocking without the consent of the Likud coalition partners, especially Shas." While recent polls have questioned whether the Sephardic haredi party will reach the current threshold, Shas has criticized the move.
