MK Oded Forer(Yisrael Beytenu) rejects the connection being made between the amendment to the budget law which has been interpreted as a way to target the head of the mechina (pre-army) Bnai David yeshiva in Eli.
"The law calling to revoke funding for Torah institutions whose leaders incite against IDF service or national service has nothing to do with the Eli pre-army academy, which produces soldiers and officers who make a significant and important contribution to the IDF," Forer said.
He added that "the law is intended to put an end to the riots and the unfettered attacks of extremist haredi factions against the defense establishment. Any attempt to portray this law in another manner is a baldfaced lie and attempt to deceive the public."
