A senior Health Ministry employee and three other suspects were arrested Tuesday morning in connection with an investigation into the smuggling of food additives for athletes, which became public knowledge a month ago.
The director of the quarantine station at the port of Ashdod and two other senior food engineers were previously arrested on suspicion of receiving bribes from an importer in the sports field in order to promote and approve the importation of dietary supplements for athletes, without conducting the necessary tests.
