Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach, leader of the Peleg Yerushalmi haredi-religious faction, was admitted Monday evening to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem after returning from an event held by one of his students during which he felt ill. He underwent tests at the hospital and was left for observation.
On the rabbi's instructions, his students demonstrated Monday evening in Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh and on the border between Bnei Brak and Ramat Gan, in protest of the arrest of two students in his yeshivas for not reporting to the Israel Defense Forces. Police arrested some of the demonstrators for disorderly conduct.
