The President of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, is expected to announce today whether he intends to declare the independence of the region later this week.
The Spanish government has given Puigdemont a stay until today, after telling the Catalan legislators last week that it accepts the mandate for independence, but rejects the declaration, to give a last chance for negotiations with Spain.
